Betsson Group demonstrates commitment to player protection, fairness and responsible conduct
London, January 2019 – Swedish gaming group Betsson, is the latest operator to be awarded eCOGRA’s “Safe and Fair” seal. The award of the seal is based on the achievement of the objectives of player protection, fair gambling and responsible operator conduct, and this followed a comprehensive onsite review by eCOGRA’s audit specialists to ensure compliance with the eCOGRA Generally Accepted (eGAP) Requirements.
Jesper Svensson, Chief Executive Officer for Betsson operations, said ‘Although we are subjected to rigorous compliance requirements in all of the regulated markets in which we are licensed to operate, the expert eGAP framework supplements and supports these regulatory objectives and requirements, enabling us to further demonstrate to players and other industry stakeholders our commitment to fair and responsible online gambling’.
eCOGRA Chief Executive Officer Shaun McCallaghan congratulated the new seal holder, noting the complete cooperation that the eCOGRA auditors had been given throughout the demanding process toward accreditation.
‘Our onsite review covering elements of corporate governance, legal compliance, financial controls, systems controls and operational controls revealed an exceptionally high regard for player protection and a noteworthy commitment to compliance. We are extremely proud to have an organisation of Betsson’s calibre and reputation displaying our Safe and Fair Seal on their site.’
The latest release of the eCOGRA Generally Accepted Requirements considers the compliance requirements of various regulated markets and, where appropriate, encompasses the CEN Workshop Agreement 16259:2014 Responsible Remote Gambling Measures, the European Commission’s 2014 Recommendation for the common protection of consumers of online gambling services in the EU, the European Parliament’s Fourth European Union Anti-Money Laundering Directive, industry-relevant information security requirements as outlined in ISO/IEC 27001:2013 and privacy principles as outlined in the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
eCOGRA is the only online gambling testing laboratory authorised to offer operators and service providers accredited ISO/IEC 27001 certifications for ISMS and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) services. The company is an approved testing laboratory with several online gambling jurisdictions.
eCOGRA has been awarded the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) ISO approval ISO/IEC 17025:2005 : General Requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories for Great Britain, Sweden and Denmark, as well as ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015, which is a prerequisite for carrying out third-party ISO/IEC 27001 audits and accredited certifications of Information Security Management Systems (ISMS).
